Spotify Web Playback SDK in React Native WebView

I'm trying to integrate the Web Playback SDK in a React Native WebView. I've successfully managed to transfer playback and play music, however when I lock the device - the music stops.

I've configured the background modes of the APP to include: Audio, AirPlay, Picture in Picture, Background processing and Background fetch. If I try to play an mp3 via the native audio element, the sound plays in the background - which leads me to believe this is a Spotify SDK related issue.

Is there a way to configure the player not to stop on lock screen?
