Spotify mobile app Connect behavior/protocol (when switching account?)

Hello all,

Can someone point me to some detailed description of the algorithm used to implement Spotify Connect in the mobile app, so I can understand the following behavior?

As far as I see, the phone queries over 5353 (mDNS) and the Connect-capable device answers (OK, maybe some responder answers, but it's the same).

Then sometimes the phone initiates a HTTP dialog with the device, with JSON payload. But usually it does NOT. Even if the device is not already available in the app menu. Once the dialog is completed, the device appears in the devices menu.

My question is "Why is the dialog with the device started only sometimes?"

In this particular case, I have a Premium Duo account and switching the Connect-capable device from one user to the other is painfully difficult to achieve and by all means not reliably repeatable.

Can I do something about it?

Can Spotify please do something about it?
