my mom got me a spotify gift card a month ago however when i typed in the reedem code it says my code is invaild. why is this happening? do i need a new gift card?

Welcome to the community!

Let's try the following to get your gift card working:

Make sure you're entering the code correctly. For example: try 0 (zero) instead of O, and I instead of l (lower case L).

Check the code hasn’t already been redeemed. You can check this on your account page. You can also check to see if you have any other accounts you might have applied it to.

Check the country registered to your account is the same as where the gift card was purchased.
Tip: Check out our guide to changing your country settings.

If you bought your gift card from a store, it might not have been activated when purchased. Please return to the store and ask them to activate it.

Codes are not redeemable for Premium for Family or in conjunction with other discounts and promotions.

If your code has been damaged and you can no longer read it, please contact the Spotify payments team.

And NOW you telling me this? I bought it for real money, and i thought it was another payment method, not some promo code! Now i'm angry!

Hey @pawelkoszalin,

You're welcome!

As a workaround, you could also cancel your current Premium for Family subscription, use the gift card to subscribe to regular Premium once your account reverts to the free service, and then immediately resubscribe to Premium for Family.

The system will convert your remaining Premium subscription time from the gift card to Premium for Family. This means that your renewal date will be brought forward, and you won't be charged again until it runs out.
