cancel premium link on website throws error

I am trying to cancel my premium account via the button in the accounts page which points to the url https://www.spotify.com/us/account/subscription/change/intent/?target=free. Everytime I try this I get an error "Oops! Something went wrong, please try again.".

I have tried this with firefox and chrome. My premium account was payed with a gift card, don't know if this makes any difference (country is belgium).

I have tried on different devices with different browsers.

How can it be that such a big company is not able to get this simple thing working?

I found similar topics on this forum (https://community.spotify.com/t5/Subscriptions/Cannot-cancel-premium/m-p/4490852) without any solution.

Hello there!

It's not possible to cancel a Gift Card. You can simply wait and when the Gift Card expires, the account will revert back to Free 🙂
