Need Credit Card for free Premium

I have xbox gamepass, and one of the benefits is 6 months free of Premium. I have tried to redeem this but every time I go to redeem the premium, it requests a credit card. I was under the assumption it was free. Why do I have to pay for it?

I'd recommend checking out this support article for info on this.

It's mostly a verification method and so that you can keep the subscription running without interruptions if you decide to stay on Spotify Premium.

You are free to cancel at any point and you'll get to use up the rest of your Premium time.

but what if you dont even have a credit card but you have the free premium perk from the gamepass (got the gamepass from a friend of mine btw)

Thank you for keeping in contact.

To apply for the Game Pass promo, it's necessary to register a credit card or PayPal account as a payment method in order to redeem the Premium time. Only those methods are available by the moment.

Also, keep in mind that this offer is for free accounts that never have had a Premium subscription before (including joining a Family/Duo plan).
