Change from Duo to Family

My Question or Issue

I currently have Premium Duo and want to join a Premium Family. It's the same address and my parents created the Family account while I had created the Duo account before. Now, when I try to join the Family account it says "There has been a problem." Do I first need to change to a Free account? Or is it because I created the Duo account only half a year ago?

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Community, I'll be here to help you out. In order to join the Premium for Family plan, first I'd recommend following these steps to cancel your current Duo subscription. When your account reverts to Free, you should be able to join the family plan with no problems.

If I switch from my duo plan to the family plan my parents created, how do I save/transfer my playlist?

Hey @Tigers14,

Thanks for reaching out.

When you're joining a new Premium Duo/Family plan, you don't need to create a new account so you can keep your existing music collection.

As a heads up, you can only switch plans once every 12 months as outlined here. Also, if you're the manager of the current plan, you'll need to cancel it and wait for the account to revert to free before joining the new plan as outlined by @Jose_M above.
