Hi @AdT44,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

If you change your plan from Premium Family to Premium Duo, then yes, the accounts of the other members of the Premium Family plan will revert to the free service (at your next billing date, which you can view on your account page).

No worries, Spotify users keep their same accounts with all of their playlists, saved music, and settings no matter which plan they switch to or from. So even though they’ll switch to the free service, the other members of the Premium Family plan won’t lose any of their playlists or saved music.

However, note that since downloading music for offline listening is a Premium feature, the other members of the Premium Family plan won’t be able to play any previously downloaded music while offline once their accounts have reverted to the free service (although if they subsequently start their own Premium subscriptions, they’ll be able to re-download music once they’re re-subscribed to Premium).

Also note that members can only switch between different Premium Family or Premium Duo plans once in 12 months.

You can additionally read more about switching between different subscription plans in this support article.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and have a good day!

Plan: Family > Duo

Country: Netherlands

My Question or Issue

At the moment I make use of the Premium Family plan, to which multiple users are subscribed. Everyone has their own playlists and apps. I plan to move to Premium Duo, with someone else, which would 'nullify' the subscription of the people currently part of the Premium Family plan.

My question is: what will there be any negative consequences for those people? I assume they revert back to the free plan, including commercials and such - but will they keep their playlists? Is there anything else I should know, or they should be aware of?

That's a great answer and super clear! I guess I'll soon end my FFamily subscription and join in on the Duo Premium one. Awesome, great support!

Cheers,

Ad
