My Question or Issue

Hello,

I am interested in buying a Spotify gift card for myself. I use Basic Individual, the new plan for $10.99 without audiobook hours. I see on this article (https://support.spotify.com/us/article/gift-cards/), that “You can’t apply a gift card on discounted plans like Premium Student, Premium Family, Premium Duo, or trial offers.” Would I be able to use a gift card for Basic Individual or does it count as a discounted plan?

Hey, how are you? Welcome to the Spotify Community!

From my research, and since the Basic Individual plan is not listed among the discounted plans (such as Premium Student, Premium Family, Premium Duo, or trial offers) mentioned in the article, I believe you will be able to use a Spotify gift card to pay your Basic Individual plan!

If you're still unsure, I recommend contacting the Spotify team for confirmation if necessary.

So I just got off of support chat with a series of individuals who informed me that I could not use my gift card purchased last year (before any of the premium/basic stuff rolled out) on my basic account. When I tried to enter in the gift card it said "unexpected problem occurred. Try again." But none of the support chat people could actually tell me why, other than that my only option was to change my profile to Premium. But then I would never be able to change back to basic. So don't buy Spotify giftcards unless you want to be forced into paying for audiobooks you won't use. Gah.

I just redeemed a gift card that was given to me today, and i currently already have the free trial, I went to go check on my subscription status and it says It’ll still end 3/2/2025, all though I just redeemed it, what’s happening I’m just very slow and I need to know if the gift card was even counted in the first place
