It's simple "Play what I select. " For example I select the album Quadrapenia by The Who. I want that album, start to finish, in the order it appears on the album. This is a rock opera it has a narrative. Don't mix in any other songs no matter how appropriate. Respect the artest who produced the album.

Keep in mind that playing on demand is a Premium-only feature.
On the free tier of the app you may get song suggestions automatically playing or have new songs added to your playlists.

In case you're on Premium and experiencing this, take a look if you haven't enabled the 'Smart Shuffle' instead of the regular 'Shuffle' setting. More info regarding Smart Shuffle can be found here.

I understand that playing on demand is a Premium-only feature on Spotify. However, I

find this approach disingenuous and frustrating. I strongly believe that

Spotify could provide an app capable of offering access to music by choice, even for free-tier users, supported by ad revenue alone.

The current model, which includes automatically playing song suggestions or adding new

songs to playlists without user

consent, does not enhance user

satisfaction. In fact, it feels like a

manipulation designed to push

users toward paying for

Premium services. This

approach does not contribute to revenue through ads; instead, it is a tactic to convert free

subscribers into paid ones. If

Spotify were straightforward

about its intentions, it would

either offer a purely paid service

or create a truly user-friendly

free service funded adequately

by ads. As it stands, the free

service seems more like a stepping stone to FORCE users into subscribing to Premium. A more transparent and user-focused approach would be appreciated. Thank you.

Spotify has a “freemium” (hate that term) business model, meaning while it offers a free version, their goal is to convert users to their premium paid tiers. Ads bring in about 10% of their total annual revenue, and 2% of actual profit. The remainder comes from subscriptions. Which is to say that ads bring in hardly anything.

This isn’t unusual, deceptive, or unfair. It’s quite rare that a streaming service offers a free tier, even with the limitations.

This happened to me on several occasions. I connected with customer support and sent them screenshots and account information and they had me use a different test account and it happened again. They keep asking for more and more information and now they want an error screen, though it does not have an error - just randomly changes to music from people I either haven't heard of or don't follow. Has been happening since the day after the superbowl and it was Kendrick Lamar to start with. I don't think they have a fix. I am wondering if anyone who pays for a premium membership doesn't have this problem. I am using the free version.

My Question or Issue

Spotify is not playing the selected track on tablet. On tapping a song, an unrelated or random song starts playing instead of the intended one.
