I paid for regular premium and then signed up for the student discount...will I automatically get refunded for the regular?

I had premium Spotify and switch to premium for students, and now I can't skip ads or songs but I'm still paying for premium??? Is this normal I'm pretty sure I am still supposed to be able to skip songs.it's giving me the same affects as if I got the free app but I'm still paying five dollars a month for the student one
