Linking to facebook created new account rather than link to existing spotify account

Hi,

I attempted today to link my existing spotify account with my facebook. However I seem to have ended up with a new account based on my facebook credentials and my existing account which seem to be linked to the same email address. Is there a way for me to remove this second account?

Hi Jamie,

Yes, there is. Just log into Spotify using your original 'jamjamjamie' username and Spotify password, then link up your Facebook. You can do this by going to 'Preferences' ('Edit' in Windows, 'Spotify' on a Mac) and scrolling down to 'Connect to Facebook'.

I did not notice the sticked topic at the top of the forum (I was looking for a topic relating to linking facebook rather than missing playlists!). Following the steps seems to have resolved the issue.

One side affect of the duplicated accounts means it is impossible to change settings on the spotify account (via website) while the new account exists.

Actually Sam, I am having a similar problem. I attempted to do something similar myself, where I wished to change the FB account associated with my original Spotify account, but am not given the option to do so on my Spotify preference page, instead it indicates that I must log into Facebook to make any Facebook related changes (*within* Facebook). There is no 're-direct' option in FB. I ended up creating and paying for another premium Spotify account just so that I could have my Spotify Account associated with my correct/preferred Facebook account. I was unable to find anyway to transfer all of my Playlists, etc. to the new Spotify account so had to start all over, basically 'losing' all of my Playlists as a result. Additonally, I now have the issue that I went ahead and *gave* the original Spotify account to my kids to use, however I cannot 'un-associate' that account with the original associated Facebook account. My preference would be to let my kids now associate it with one of THEIR Facebook accounts, but not only can I NOT do so, they also are unable to log in to Spotify with the Spotify Login, but must instead use MY Facebook account info to do so, which I am not really comfortable with (nor are they).
At this point, it's a bit late to re-direct the original Spotify account to my preferred FB, but if transfering my Play lists to my new Spotify account is possible, that would be great. Additionally, re-directing the original Spotify account to one of my kids FB accounts rather than my old FB account would be ideal as well.
Is there a solution to this issue that I'm unaware of/missing and if so, can you please point me in the right direction? Sorry this was not truely a *quick reply* and Thanks so much for any info you may be able to provide on this Issue!

SpiritHeart67 - Hi! If you created your Spotify account through Facebook, you won't be able to change the Facebook account it was created through. If you'd like a Spotify account attached to your kids Facebook, they'll need to create a new one.

To get all your playlists over to this new one, I'd suggest searching for this original account in your Spotify. You'll need the numerical username of this original account at hand, and all the playlists that you want set to 'public'. You can get your numerical password from the page here: www.spotify.com/account/

Once you have it, just search 'spotify:user:USERNAME' in your Spotify, and the account will show up. Just subscribe to the playlists you'd like, and they'll be sat nicely in your account.

the connect to facebook doesn't seem to work for me. a new window pops up and then vanishes in few seconds.

I have an existing premium spotify account with uid: prateek33 which I wanted to link to my facebook account. Meanwhile I accidentally created a new account with my facebook id which I wanted to delete.

Please help

You can also link up your Facebook to your Spotify from our website here. It's just on the right hand side.

I have a Spotify account (1131222201) and I want unlink this because I don´t want to use facebook. I have a Premium account and I want to change this Premium on a other account ( for example on this account ) "spopiale".

Thanks - I tried that, but it links to an older account I set up in Switzerland...

Once I log in as I am now, I can't seem to see how I link it up...

i have the same problem but it doesnt work with loggin into the orginal-account because i can´t get there. ( i don´t know why ) i always end up in the second one -.- please help me 😞

my original-account is a faacebook account named 1157597723

while the account ehere i end up all the time is named 1175703413

this all started when i made a new account (a normal Spotify account) speedyfly2 (might be helpfull but i don´t know ... )
