Offline Access Has Been Withdrawn?

Usde it on 4 devices for awhile now, log in tonight and got that message?

Any ideas how I can sort it?

Hey Markadias, welcome to the Community.

It could be the 4 devices issue, Spotify could be getting a little confusing as to how many devices you have registered.

Want me to try resetting this information for you? You'll have a blank slate to work from, but will need to sync all your offline playlists again.

This is happening to me as well. I have 3 PCs (work desktop, work laptop, home PC), and two devices (iPhone and WDTV Live) that access my Spotify account. They all, with the exception of the WDTV live, cache ALL my playlists offline. I do this to minimize bandwidth usage (both at home and at work), and because I have storage to spare.

Caching offline is a LARGE part of the reason I pay for Spotify Premium. Is it possible to purchase the option to cache to more than 3 devices without having to maintain two accounts? I don't mind the money, but I don't want to attempt to duplicate every single playlist and setting, or lose track of the plays of a particular song. I suspect multiple profiles wouldn't play well with Facebook or Last.fm either.

Please advise.

I am having this same problem. I have spotify on many different devices. I hae been successfully using my iMac Spotify acct up until today. When I logged into spotify I received a warning message: Offline access for this computer / device has been withdrawn.

How do I resolve this issue?

Hi Butterfly,

We can reset your devices for you if you'd like. This will mean you'd need to re-sync your tunes, but you will be able to keep track of your 3 devices from now.

Would you like me to do that?

Hi Moderator,

Can you please send a message up the system, that 3 devices is not enough for us tech geeks?

I mean, just because we stream the music on more devices, it's still for personal use and we're not sharing it with anyone else. And it really sucks, not being able to have offline synced playlists on at least 4 devices. For example, my iPod (which doesn't have any active 3g connection and I use it on the go), my laptop which neither always has an internet connection, my phone which I often bring to friend's house to play music, and tablet as well.

Please come up with a reasonable solution to this problem, because it is very annoying.

Help - having this same problem. was working fine for a few days but now get this error when starting Spotify. Is there a way to reset my "counter" myself for the devices being used? If not, can you please reset my account devices and I will start over with the sync.

And consider this a feature request for users to self-manage devices.

I agree - 3 devices? Are you kidding? Who in the world would be an active subscriber to a service like Spotify and only use 3 devices? If you're technologically inept, the iTunes store is made just for you! Without the ability to cache more than 3 devices, this leaves a glaring music void in my life. At the simplest, I have my cell-phone, HTPC, Gaming Rig, and Work PC. I also have my laptop, tablet, etc... and I can't always afford to be hosting for spotify's peer-to-peer when I'm on 3g/4g. Bad move spotify - 3 is just too restrictive.

I was thrilled to find a service that would allow me to fairly pay the artists I enjoy listening to, WITHOUT the rat's nest of restrictions/limitations that other services tie their customers down with. I suppose Spotify has gotten big enough to join the "big boys" 😞

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

Unfortunately, the 3 device limit is down to the music licensing agreements Spotify have with the music labels. Its not really as restrictive as you might think, I have 8 devices, but 5 of them are connected to the Internet most of the time anyways, so they don't need to be synced offline and therefore don't count towards those limits.

Also Spotify's p2p system is only used in the desktop versions. Mobile versions where you would normally be using 3G/4G stream directly from Spotify and do not use any p2p technology.

What do you do about bandwith caps from your ISP? I tether at work because spotify is blocked (not uncommon, I'm sure), but at home playing my libraries spotify is always almost on, and it contributes quite a bit to my limited upstream, not to mention living in a region where 10 Mb service is as fast as I can buy, and not having 4g basically requires me to use offline lists for my laptop, cell, and work computer (tether). Streaming is ok for listening to new stuff, but it's very problematic for a playlist that is my go-to.

hi spotify...

i'm not a 'tech geek', just someone who wants to be able to listen to the music i have stored on my spotify.

i have mp3s stored on my home laptop that appear in some of my spotify playlists - great. i have made them available offline on my phone - great. i also want to play them on my work laptop, and used to be able to, but i log on this afternoon and get the banner message 'offline acces for this computer/device has been withdrawn', with no explanation, no option to fix, no link to click... wtf!?

please advise on how to rectify this.
