My girlfriend has an iphone and I have an android. I have a premium spotify account. She downloaded the app on her iphone 4 but it wont let her stream music. She cant search spicific songs and listen to them. For example, if she types in Fall Out Boy, it plays songs by artisits similar. No different from itunes radio or pandora. I have a premium account so I don't understand what is going on. How do we fix this? I have friends that do the same thing and share and it works like it is supposed to. The only difference is they cant be on the app at the same time, which is understandble.

You can share the account, but you cannot use it on two devices AT THE SAME TIME. When you try this, Spotify will pause and give a warning your account is being used somewhere else. So if you take turns in listening, you will be able to share the account. I don't think that is what you are after however...

Just to confirm @brianlis1 your girlfriend is logging into a Spotify premium account on her iPhone?

(Just FYI, account sharing is against the Spotify terms of usage so you might want to be careful where you say that!)

I have the same problem. It would be great to listen to music AT THE SAME TIME with my wife. We share the same taste in music so we don't need to different accounts. Soptify should have a maximum number of devices logged in the same account working at the same time. At least for premium users.

@randres - Unfortunately Spotify's music licensing makes that not possible under the current terms. Family subscriptions have been discussed for a long time too over on the Ideas Exchange:
http://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas/Discount-Family-Subscriptions/idi-p/2275

Bummer. I made my husband cancel our Pandora account bc I loved Spotify. Now we can't share it 😞

I understand that it's their policy, but $20 a month for music is kinda overpriced.
