I pulled the previous version from Google's cache and compared the text with the current one with a diff tool. The new agreement appears to be a complete rewrite, so an explanation from Spotify on why the terms were changed and what is the impact of the changes would be more than welcome. I tried to find some kind of announcement on the site, but could not find any. Pretty miserable customer service.

YOU AND SPOTIFY AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A CLASS MEMBER OR IN ANY REPRESENTATIVE CAPACITY OR PROCEEDING. Further, no arbitrator shall consolidate any other person’s claims with your claims, and may not otherwise preside over any form of a multi-party or class proceeding. If this specific provision is found to be unenforceable in any way, then the entirety of this arbitration section shall be null and void. The arbitrator may not award declaratory or injunctive relief.

Looks like it's another one of these "Do not make class action lawsuits" clauses that a lot of companies started putting in their user agreements. Basically you're not allowed to make a class action lawsuit against Spotify anymore. It started with video game distribution services (Steam, Origin, Xbox Live and Playstation Network) and looks like Spotify just did the same.

I HATE when they change the agreement and don't tell us what they changed. It's even worse now with the complete rewrite that you can't compare. Now I'll have to stop using Spotify until I have had time to go through it all. They should pay me back for the days I'll be unable to use my Premium account in the meantime.

When I came across the new terms to accept, I wanted to read them, but didn't want to take the time yet.

I wouldn't mind a lack of having a summary of changes so much if there was an option to "wait 15 days" to accept or something. Then I could keep using it under the old terms until I had a chance to fully evaluate the new.

If you want to suggest that as a change to the service, then head over to the Ideas Exchange and suggest it! 🙂

Spotify staff regularly collect feedback from that area in relation to new features, so that is the best place to post!

Not only are they making it hard to find out how the agreement has changed by doing a complete rewrite and not offering a list of key changes, but also they threaten you that if you don't agree to the revision within 2 weeks, your use of Spotify will be stopped while you continue to be charged. The arrogance is hard to beleive: it is a one way contract: you agree to it and have to keep your end of it and they can decide any time they want to change it; and if you don't like it, they will force you to quite Spotify and then everything you have created by way of playlists will be lost: in my case that is literally dozens of hours of work to create my music - over 80 playlists, some with hudreds of tracks. Great to see how European businesses adopt the worst of American business practices.
