I have had my account hjacked for a second time in 6 months. Someone changed the password and email address. Someone has obviously compromised the Spotify membership database. This is unaccetpable! It's happening to many people. I'll cancel my service if I don't get an adequate answer as to what is going on. I only use my user/pass combination on Spotify, so it was not hacked from anywhere else. WTF?!

Hey there,

I know a pretty huge amount of hacking and the hacking scene and even if spotify server where breached the passwords will be hashed. Wich means that they are encrypted so hacker can not directly login with it.

If they however do want to login they;d need to decrypt your password and if you have a password combination such as Sp0t1fy it is already getting pretty hard to hack.

Fact is that it's not worth to decrypt your account because spotify accounts hardly go for 5dollar a piece on the blackmarket. I highyl doubt that a database hack is the cause of your problems.

I'd advice you to get use various methods to check out if your pc is virus free.

Check incoming/outgoing connection

Check your roaming and startup for files you dont know

Check if there is a file on your pc that has a creation date from before you installed your os For example: If the creation date of your /Computer/C/Windows/System is 25-06-2012 and there is file created before that date there is a good posibility there is a file on your pc that causes the problems.

Also check for any unusual programs/processes running in taskmanager.

And last i'd advice you to download/purchase Malwarebytes and run a indept scan with that,

I hope this helps you out! 😉

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

As said by the poster above, this is much more likely to be a locale issue rather than a Spotify one.

If you can no longer access your account, you will need to get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form and they will be able to assist you further with this after verifying a few details.

If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

Peter
