I realize that when listening to music on a free account using a mobile device you aren't able to play songs seqeuntially, but you could still play most of an album. I also know that after several songs another song from a different artist in a similar genre might shuffle in. Although slightly annoying, I lived with this.

However, if you had a playlist you didn't have to worry about these other artist's songs popping up, you just couldn't play the songs sequentially; no big deal.

Now, unfortunately, I've seen that things have changed both for albums and playlists. I can't even play three songs before I get a song that it is not even in the same ballpark as the music I am listening to---i.e. contemporary pop and rock.

Is there any chance Spotify will go back to the old process or we going to be forced to listen to stuff we don't even like?

Not 100% sure if this changes anything regarding that, but Spotify did just announce a new free version. Hopefully it will help you out.
