Hey @studioloft

It's a bit of an interesting phenomena.

I suppose artists that wrote these songs ending in playlists of two different genres can be described as (eg) both pop and dance. A pop artist can make some dancy bits, or they may actually make a dancier version of the original. I'm having trouble telling some dance/edm tunes apart from pop.

Hiphop and Dance are pretty distinctive from one another and even a genre noob like me is able to tell them apart. 🙂

There are genres associated for each artist in Spotify. You can check out this website built by Spotify's data alchemist. There's a search box in the upper edge of the website where you can type in the artist's name and see what genre clouds it appears in.

Hope this helps 🙂

Hi there. I was recently browsing the Pop and Dance genres and find that often times one song could be in the other 's playlist. Why is this? What are the defining factors between the Dance and Pop genre that put a song in one category or the other?

On a side note, I also see some Hip-Hop and Pop blending but never Hip-Hop and Dance.

Can someone help me define this music? 🙂
