Hi @bluebirb,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

To successfully load and sync different file types, the Spotify app requires certain networking protocols to be enabled and supported on your router, and not blocked by a Firewall/ System administration software. For best results, make sure:

The router supports the Bonjour protocol. If the router is made after 2005, it will likely have this protocol. The best way to handle this is to check the router make/model and Google it.

Check that UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is enabled.

You OS shows your network as private and not public.

Hope you find this info helpful 🙂

Plan

Premium

Country

Indonesia

Device

Galaxy A7/ PC

Operating System

Android 10/Windows 10

My Question or Issue

As you can see in the screenshots here, there are some local files I have downloaded (from moving them from my local files on my pc to a playlist, and then liking them on my phone from that playlist so I can add that to my liked songs and play it on mobile) that have the gray exclamation mark which means I can't play or download it, and some local files that I can play and have downloaded.

I added these songs at the same time but you see that the unplayable songs have moved to the top because I liked and unliked them.

I searched through for potential issues on this forum and found that if gray exclamation marks appear, it is usually a network issue.

I then looked at my firewall to ensure that I ticked public and private networks for my wifi. Then I found the culprit- I was on different WiFi networks on my phone and my PC.

After connecting to the same network, it solved the issue entirely so that's where it leads me to this question. Why did some local songs sync even though I was on different networks, while some didn't?
