Current state of LUFS renormalization?

My Question

I've read that a few months ago Spotify started renormalizing volume levels in their library using LUFS. This was supposed to give a more uniform perception of loudness between songs. However I still need to change the playback volume for different albums, sometimes quite a lot. I do have normalization enabled in the app (level: normal).

My question is: Has the old material been renormalized already? How much unification should I expect?

Thanks for reaching out about this.

We currently don't have much info to share about the timeframes for adjusting all the content. However, keep in mind that we adjust tracks to -14 dB LUFS, according to the ITU 1770 (International Telecommunication Union) standard.

We'd also recommend taking a look at this article where you'll find a bit more info about audio normalization.
