My Question or Issue

Hello,

I listen to a lot of Korean music and the lyrics won’t show up on my TV. Every language shows up except Korean. I have an LG tv but have Spotify installed on Roku Express. The lyrics show on my phone but not on Roku. I wanted to know if there’s a solution to this or if someone can help me? Thank you

I'm having the same problem. It used to show the korean lyrics on my tv (TCL) but it disappeared one day. Japanese and Arabic lyrics never shows up on tv either.

All lyrics do show up on other platforms such as phone, computer and tablet but it'll be nice to have it on tv as well.

We understand you've stopped seeing Korean (and also Japanese and Arabic) lyrics being displayed while streaming music via Spotify on your smart TVs, but do you see the Lyrics on the TV for songs in other languages correctly? It would be nice if you can send us screenshots or short video recordings of the exact situations you experience, so we can take a closer look and advise you better.

@Fatimahuerta, you can also check if the Spotify app on your Roku device can be updated, and also if the player's firmware itself has pending updates as well. Please run them all to see if this will make any difference for you.

@Gonzm19, you mentioned that the Korean lyrics were available for you before, but not now. Do you remember if this happened after a particular update or anything of that sort? It would be nice if you are able to share with us more details about your current setup. For example what is the OS and its version that runs on your TV and also what is the Spotify version that you currently have on. If there are updates of your TV firmware or the apps inside, we suggest also running them to see if this helps.

Keep in mind that the Lyrics feature may not show for certain songs, if their provider hasn't got lyrics for that song in their catalogue. Also the feature is only available with an internet connection (it doesn't work when listening in Offline mode).

I’m having the same problem on my TCL Roku tv. The lyrics show up on my iPad and iPhone, but on my tv it only shows up English lyrics while the Korean lyrics don’t show up.

Just to make sure, did this start happening until recently, or have the Korean lyrics never shown on your TV?

Also, could you try opening the lyrics for a song from a language with different alphabet such as Japanese, Vietnamese, etc.? This way we can find out if this is exclusive to Korean lyrics.

I'm having the same problem on my roku tv, when the lyrics launched for all devices all lyrics showed perfectly fine but it's been weeks now that they don't work for korean and japanese.

Btw I made sure to update both the app and my tv OS but the issue still happening

Yes, the lyrics for these songs work perfectly fine on other devices, I've tried it on the android app, web browser and windows & mac desktop apps.

Here are some examples but essentially all korean and japanese (and probably other languages too) have this issue on the tv app.

Hello, Korean lyrics have never shown on my tv. Only lyrics that show on my tv are English lyrics. This has been happening for a few months now.

The same thing has been happening to me too, every language that doesn't have English characters is just blanked out. Japanese, Korean, Thai, etc, but these characters show up in other apps like YouTube.

Just they showed up before normally, and one day they didnt.
