How come 90% of my liked songs and playlists consist of female artists, specifically female rappers. When I select a genre at the top like “rap” and “hip-hop”, only one song by a female rapper shows up. Why is that?? Yet when I select “angry”, ONLY female artists come up. This is extremely sexist, and I am very curious as to why and upset that rap is not recognizing any women’s contributions and Spotify is allowing it.

I'm sorry that you're facing difficulty in finding female rap and hip-hop artists on Spotify. It's important to remember that music streaming platforms use algorithms to recommend music based on your playback history, listening habits, and other data. Therefore, if you have the habit of predominantly listening to female rap artists, it's possible that the Spotify algorithm is recommending more female artists and playlists to you.

However, it's understandable that you're frustrated with the lack of recognition of female artists in the rap and hip-hop genre, and it's important that all music genres are inclusive and recognize the contributions of all artists, regardless of gender. Spotify has been working to increase diversity on its platform and provide more fair and accurate recommendations for all users. If you have any more concerns or suggestions, they will be evaluated and taken into consideration by the ideas team. Best regards and good luck!
