Hi Sebasty,

Thanks for replying. I'm new to Spotify and am having a hard time organizing
the music I want to listen to.

The single most annoying thing is music I don't want to listen to that
Spotify programs for me and I can't eliminate. If a song comes up, unlike
other streaming services, I can't right click on it and have the option to
block it. Right clicks are only for half a dozen ways to like a song. I've
read about three vertical dots under an artist's name which if you click on
gives you a "Don't Play" option, but I don't have this vertical option.
Might this be because I listen on my computer which is attached to a sound
system, and not my phone? I can end a song by an artist, but it doesn't sink
into Spotify that I'm ending it because I don't like it, and I don't want to
hear it again.

More generally, I have varying tastes in music. I would like Spotify to be
able to program across genres for me, say Ella Fitzgerald followed by the
Clash, but I think this is hopeless.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, David

Hey there @DavidRaphael,

Thanks for posting your questions!

The feature to block certain artists from being played is currently only available on the mobile app. However, once the artist has been blocked, the changes will apply to all devices that you use Spotify on. On the mobile app, open the profile of the artist you don't want to play > click the 3 dots > Don't play this artist.

You may also see recommended music that we think you might like, as this part of the app features. While it's not possible to block specific tracks, if you want to stop getting recommendations about certain music within playlists, you can now exclude it from your taste profile.

We can also suggest that you take a look at your Spotify Mixes. These are personalized playlists made just for you and they will update frequently when listened to. Feel free to check this page for some more info. An option, if you like any of the Mixes, is to create a playlist from it. Using the desktop app, right-click on the Mix > Add to other playlist > New playlist. Once you've created a new playlist, you can add even more Mixes or individual tracks that you like into that playlist.

We hope this helps! Let us know if you need anything else.

AI can’t know about you unless you feed it information, and it will never completely “get you.” Create a playlist.

Hey! That sounds really frustrating. It doesn’t seem like an app issue since reinstalling didn’t fix it, and the fact that opening the Start menu temporarily solves it makes it look more like a display or system glitch.

You could try restarting Windows Explorer from Task Manager, as that often fixes UI bugs like this. Also check your display scaling settings (keep it at 100% or 125%) and make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. If the app has a hardware acceleration option, turning that off might help too.

Hopefully one of these fixes it!😉
