On the app and desktop all albums are showing in list view and not grid view

Recently, since Friday, all of my albums and songs are showing up on list view rather than previously were it was grid view. It was grid view on Thursday and suddenly it was list view on Friday.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and nothing has changed. I logged in on desktop on my phone and on my laptop and the same thing has happened. All the albums are in list view.

This is really frustrating as I don't like it this way. I mean, in the long run no one cares and it certainly won't affect Spotify's bottom line but I'm considering cancelling my Spotify subscription if I can't get it back to grid view.

Honestly, why would Spotify change this without allowing you the option to change it back or switch between list and grid view for those who prefer it one way or the other.

I've looked at previous posts and tried following the steps but none of it works and I can't find any option on the app or desktop to change between list view and grid view.

Please help.

Hi there @Sean_Classic,

Thanks for reaching out.

These options should still be available. On Desktop, you can click the top right button in the left Library sidebar that allows you to sort the contents in there. Besides the options to sort, you should also have the options to change the view, like so:

Likewise, in the Your Library section on mobile, there should be an identical icon in the top right that also changes between list and grid view. Be advised though that other areas such as the search don't have this option, see this thread for more info.

If you indeed don't have the aforementioned options, make sure your app is on the latest version. If the issue persists, send us some screenshots so we can see what you see and look into this further.

This is what I'm talking about. The thread you asked me to click on. In the search function all the search results and albums are coming up in list view now. Whereas last week they were in grid view.

Why would you change this? The reply in the link says that "you are looking for ways to improve Spotify". Well this doesn't improve it. And believe me, this is no idle threat. But if you don't change it back or allow us the option to switch between grid view and list view in the search function then I am cancelling my subscription to Spotify.

Honestly, why would you even change that function? Seriously, it can only be a cast of idiots who are sitting around and think "Do you know what will make Spotify better? Changing the search results for albums showing in list view instead of grid view without giving our paying subscribers the choice. Why on earth would you do that.

Please let me know that you are working on changing it back or that you are working on allowing us the option on whether or not to be able to change it. Because if not then I am cancelling my subscription.

Hi, I have the same problem, it works when I'm in my library but I want it to work outside of my library whem I'm searching for albums. My daughter can't read yet and she chooses her audio books via the pictures, which are not large enough to see in list view! Please change this back to grid view!

I use only the Web Player, and the option to view albums as Grid is not there anymore.

There is only List view, and there is no way to change back.
This makes it take significantly longer to browse and discover older albums by prolific bands.
The endless scrolling is a pain on a desktop, I can't imagine the equivalent on a phone, scrolling till your fingers fall off.
Not only that but the grid view helps give me learn about the catalogue of an artist. That's not possible if I can't see it at a glance, with pictures.

The grid view is now back as an option on the web player via the little grid icon on the top right.
It also remembers my choice (at least in this session)
