Artists with the same name

What if anything does Spotify do when there's more than one artist with the same or similar names that get categorized as the same artist? I've seen this a couple times, where the picture is of one artist/band and the songs are a completely different artist/band. How is this corrected?

Just as an example: look up Billy Jones. Notice that in 1920 he's a white guy, by 1972 he's a black guy — and at one point he turns into an Indian guy with a totally different name. What are you doing? How does this even happen? They're obviously 3 different artists — why are they listed under one name? Did who ever upload this even look at it? Regardless — you, the platform — need to make sure this doesn't [can't] happen. The issue of multiple artists with the same name should have been something you addressed loooooong before version 1 was ever released to the public — that's it's still an issue now in 2024 speaks to there being some issues behind the scenes.

When you have two artists with the same name, please do TRY to keep them separate!

I follow Tom Smith (the filk singer), yet within the last couple months, every time I click on his name, I get redirected to Tom Smith (the Christian artist), instead of the Tom Smith I am following.

I don't know how many other artists have this problem, but it would be REALLY HELPFUL if you could do something to keep the identities separate, so that when I'm listening to a playlist with Tom Smith (the filk singer) in it, I don't suddenly get his by something from Tom Smith (the Christian artist).

Thank that's something that's possible?
