How do I keep Spotify from playing songs NOT on my playlists? I have a Premium sub.

I'll pick one of my playlists and Spotify will play some, or even most, of the songs then it starts playing some **bleep** song that is not on any of my playlists. It really sucks. If I wanted to hear unwanted songs I'd just turn on a radio.

Goaway, I don't understand your response. The unwanted songs that Spotify plays are not predictable, as far as I know, and are seldom, if ever, repeated. So, would your solution be that every time Spotify plays a song that is not on any of my playlists I should "add that song to your favorite xx"?

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

If you have Autoplay turned on, then Spotify will automatically play similar songs after the music on a playlist, album, or selection or tracks has reached its end.

You can disable Autoplay on your desktop app by navigating to Settings and toggling the “Autoplay” option to grey instead of green. You can also disable Autoplay on your mobile app by navigating to Settings -> Playback, and then toggling “Autoplay” to grey instead of green. You can read more about disabling Autoplay here.

While I’m not sure why Spotify is autoplaying music after listening to just some or most of the songs in a playlist for you, disabling Autoplay should prevent Spotify from playing other music when your playlist ends.

I have it turned off but it still plays more songs that aren't on my playlist.

Hey @Jayden2009,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.

If the autoplay is turned OFF, the app should not play any additional songs after your playlist finishes. In this case, it's possible that the queue had some songs added by mistake. In this case, we'd recommend clearing the play queue by following the steps in this article.

If the issue persists, as this could also be related to some damaged cache stored on your device, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article.

Lastly, to make sure that your playback is not being controlled from another device, we'd also suggest performing a security process by following the steps mentioned in this article.

I'm having the same problem! I will listen to a playlist with over 100 songs on it and Spotify will play two or three of them and then start playing something not on the list. Autoplay is turned off, always has been.

I have autoplay turned off and the app still plays things not in my playlists. Awesome that you’re raising the rates for an app the functions so poorly. Now, do you have an actual solution to this problem?

Hi there @Harmilpaul,

Thanks for your reply in this thread.

If you have Premium, make sure you follow @OscarDC recommendations. Check that there's nothing added to your Queue, and check that Smart shuffle is turned off as well. Smart shuffle adds recommendations to your playlists, so that can be the case.

Lastly, try logging in with your account from a different device or the Web Player, and let us know if the issue persists there.

I am having this issue too, and it will drive me to a competitor if I can't find a solution. I'm on a paid family account. Autoplay is turned off across all devices. And yet Spotify is still shoving unwanted songs into my playlists.

This issue is NOT FIXED, and it's pissing me off. Why would I stay with a music streaming service that simply doesn't respect my preferences as a listener.

HELP!

I have this same problem and have the auto play toggled off. I’m unsure what else to do, there doesn’t seem to be another way to stop it. It’s really aggravating.

I’ve turned off all smart shuffle and ai suggestions but whenever I click the shuffle button the only options are “shuffle with recommended songs” or to buy premium
