When clicking into an artists profile, you will see the listening statistics included on the left hand side of the screen. The top 5 cities with the most listeners is listed there. I don’t understand how Spotify lumps the regions into cities and how they determine it but there seems to be discrimination. Detroit is not listed as a top city for any artist. Detroit is the 14th most populated metro area in the US. It has produced some of musics greatest artists of all time such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Eminem, Bob Seger and more. If the Detroit listeners are getting lumped in with Chicago that is wrong. Cities with smaller populations are being measured and recognized by this Spotify metric, such as Denver (19th largest metro in US) & Charlotte (22nd largest metro in US). That is discriminatory and not going based on true listener data. Detroit should not be silenced and I urge Spotify to update this setting so artists and fans can see Detroit listeners if they are in their top 5 most listened cities.
