How to? Turn off song recommendations while playing my Liked playlist?

My Question or Issue

I was playing my 'Liked Songs' playlist and Spotify inserted a recommended song. How can I turn off this setting? I can understand Spotify's intent of helping users discover new music, but this particular method is anti-user-focused.

Hi @WantingBetter!

Sounds like you had Smart Shuffle enabled for your Liked Songs? The feature adds song recommendations to the queue which you can decide to keep in your playlist. To turn it off, open the playlist, tap the Shuffle button and switch to regular play/shuffle.

This did not work for me. I found another thread instructing go to settings, playback, then turn off auto play similar content. This still didn’t work for me so I reached out to Spotify support. They said I need to delete the app and reinstall. So I did that and checked my playlist, no recommended tracks. Hooray!

Except when I actually start my very carefully curated playlist, it has a list of recommendations. I never have smart shuffle turned on, that was my very first learning in attempting to stop the madness.

So I guess I’m back to looking at another music provider if Spotify can’t just give me a simple way to make it stop because the abominations you keep trying to force me to hear make me furious and I listen to music for enjoyment. I wouldn’t go to the effort of creating a playlist if I’m willing to listen to any garbage out there. It’s actually the point of using a streaming service versus listening to radio.

Why can we not just have the option to turn all Spotify recommendations off??????.

It could be a premium option after all we pay Spotify enough money. I hate everything "recommendation", no algorithm knows me or any other human being that's a fact. It cannot ever because it's built on the opinions of the creator not my opinions. That's a fact that people fail to see with these things. My Spotify my way after all no customers no company
