Search results severely limited – only 27 results for "love"

My Question or Issue

Hi,I’m having an issue with Spotify’s search function that started recently and seems to affect very common search terms.

When I search for “love”, I only get 27 results, even though there should obviously be hundreds or thousands of tracks with that word in the title.
Two more examples:

– “moon” → 35 results
– “summer” → 40 results

This happens regardless of how I search (normal search or track:love).

I already tried the following:
– Reinstalling the app
– Clearing the cache
– Logging out and back in
– Testing on a stable internet connection

None of this changed the result.

The behavior feels like the search is no longer returning the full catalog but only a small, curated subset of tracks. This used to work very differently in the past.

Is this an intentional change to Spotify’s search functionality, or is this a bug?

This makes it very difficult to discover or search for music by title, especially for common words. I’d appreciate clarification on whether this limitation is expected behavior or a known issue.

We were also able to reproduce the issue you've described in the desktop app on our end and we've gone ahead and reported it to our tech folks for further investigation. We'll let you know as soon as we have any news to share.

In the meantime, it looks like this isn't affecting the mobile app, so if you want to get more search results, you can use it while this is being looked into instead. Also, make sure to always keep both your apps up-to-date in order to not miss out on any potential fixes.

I'm having the same issue. I used to be able to type in a single word search like Eyes, or Fools ect.. and get thousands of results. Now there's like 20.. Same results on app as browser version. Phone app is working normal.

I just installed the app today, and I was having this problem in both the desktop app and the web app. After finding this discussion I figured out it's just some types of searches. I can search "love" and it works; scrolling to the bottom keeps loading more results. I can intermittently get more results to load with random "artist:" searches, but usually I get 13-20 results and no more will load. Some searches will show more than 20 results that should've appeared in the other searches. Some examples:

artist:Polyphia - gives me 14 results every time
artist:Polyph - gives 73 results and more than 14 of them are by Polyphia.
artist:"Glum Aleks" - gives 20 results. Sometimes another 20 load when I scroll down, sometimes not.
"Glum Aleks" - continuously loads more results as I scroll down (far more than 20 by that artist, and some by other artists).

We appreciate your feedback regarding this. We tried to replicate this behavior again, but the number of search results is working properly with the examples you mentioned. So we'd recommend checking with a different Wi-Fi connection to see if it loads properly. If you don't have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it. In case you're using any VPN, we'd also recommend turning it off to see if it makes any difference.

Lastly, we'd recommend keeping the web browser and the Spotify app updated.

Search randomly limited to 20 results on some record labels

There's a regression on the search functionality for some labels. When searching, for example for:

label:"TREKKIE TRAX"

spotify returns only 20 results both in WEB and macOS version.

It's also possible that it is a regression on lazy loading more results
