Hey there!

Totally get where you’re coming from. After years of loyal use, it’s frustrating to see the app slow down instead of improve, especially when Spotify’s own features like large playlists and high-quality downloads should be supported, not blamed.

It’s reasonable to expect the app to handle what the platform itself encourages—no user should have to shrink their library or compromise their experience just to keep it usable.

Other streaming services manage large libraries and smooth playback without this kind of lag, so it’s fair to hold Spotify to the same standard.

Your playlists and time invested are valuable, and Spotify should prioritize optimizing performance rather than shifting the burden to users.

Thanks for putting this into words many are feeling. Hopefully, more feedback like this pushes them to act.

I have been a paid Spotify customer for ten years. During that time I have only seen the app get worse when it comes to speed. Complaints of app lagging are as old and prevalent as the service itself. The only reason I haven't cancelled is because of the playlists that took me a decade to build, the very thing Spotify will tell you to reduce when you complain if a slow app. The onus should not be on the customer for this. The option to build large playlists was put there by Spotify. The option to download was put there by Spotify. The option for higher quality sound was put there by Spotify. Why should the paying customer be the one responsible for fixing their long-neglected big? I have thousands of hours on my YouTube playlists. The app works just fine. Same goes for my Prime and HBO apps. Only Spotify continues such poor performance and only Spotify continues to gaslight its own customers for its neglect.
