Songs I actually listen to a lot not appearing in On Repeat?

My Question or Issue

Songs that I've been listening to repeatedly (specifically songs from the 2003 Wicked Soundtrack & the anniversaries) Are not appearing on my On Repeat, whereas songs I've only listened to once or twice get shot up to the top of my On Repeat and songs I haven't listened to in weeks are at the bottom. It's like spotify is acting like I'm an inactive user and is ignore the songs I'm actually listening to. Even my last.fm shows just how much I've been listening to certain tracks, but spotify won't. This isn't the first time I've had an issue with the On Repeat playlist this year. I don't know if it's some sort of glitch, but when I've played from the Wicked movie soundtrack a few times, it had no trouble appearing on my On Repeat. The only thing affected by this weird glitch is the original Wicked soundtrack.

Thanks for reaching out.

On Repeat and other generated playlists depend on many factors for how the tracks within them are chosen. If this is so far the first and only time there has been some discrepancy, we recommend listening to your music further and in due time the algorithm will adjust. The more you play your favourite music, add it to your Liked Songs and playlists and overall engage with it, the better the recommendations will adapt to you.

If you however notice consistent and significant discrepancies in the recommendations you get, please let us know as that may be something worth investigating.

I've had this problem for over a month easily on a song i have constantly playing over and over and it just refuses to appear. Usually it updates within two weeks and a common song appears eventually. I feel though that i'm way passed the usual observed window

song name: "Golden - Originally Performed By Harry Styles"

update, this song is also not appearing in my girlfriend's "On Repeat" list as well. I suspect there's an attribute missing for this song in database that is also leading to the minutes not being tallied for spotify wrapped.

There are also two entries for this song. Meaning I can add both to my "Liked" list and im playing them both with very high frequency to determine whether or not one of the songs has the issue. After some time though, neither of the two have appeared on repeat

I had been listening to it consistently for over 2 weeks, still nothing. My On Repeat would update every 2-5 days and as I pointed out, other songs I played maybe once or twice within that time frame would have no issue shooting to the top of my On Repeat, but the songs I was actually listening to regularly were nowhere to be found.

was this escalated to the development team? or are you guys limited in capacity to only tend to widespread issues? I'm entertaining closing my account and opening up a new one as a form of troubleshooting but it depends on what level of attention you think this will get. would hate to respawn my account though after having it so long. but this particular issue is one of those things i get reminded of daily so its hard to just "ignore it" because of my OCD

I’m experiencing the same issue with the exact same songs. Two days ago, I listened to a different genre, and now those new songs have appeared in my repeat playlist this morning. It doesn’t make sense, especially since I’ve been playing the Wicked playlist consistently since November, and those songs have yet to show up.

Do you have any insight or advice on how to fix this?

I've been having the same issue with one particular song that's also technically a Christmas song ("Merry Christmas, Please Don't Call" by Bleachers). It's frustrating because I love listening to my On Repeat playlist, but literally have not touched it since the aforementioned song came out because I want to be able to listen to it frequently and the playlist keeps not updating!

Spotify says there's no exclusions for holiday music but I feel like its preeeeeetty clear from everyones experiences that there is. I mean come on I'm PAYING for spotify monthly and they can't fix something this simple?

Have there been anymore updates regarding missing classical or soundtrack songs not being added to the “On Repeat” list? I as well have noticed that I will listen to a classical or soundtrack song several times in a day for multiple days and it doesn’t get added to my “On Repeat” list.

I have been learning a piano version of a song so I would like for it to remain on my “On Repeat” list but it never adds that particular song. All other songs I listen to don’t seem to have a problem being recognized by the algorithm.

I rediscovered this Russian rock song around a week ago. My On Repeat refreshed twice since, but it hasn't showed up, even though that's definetly the song I listened to the most in the last days. I never turned on Private Session, and I'm listening to the song 'properly', so Spotify should definetly track when I'm streaming this song. Even right now, my current daylist is filled with Russian rock songs and it's not on there, what's weird, considering it became my go-to one. Can this issue be fixed? And out of curiousity, I'd have another question: can a song show up on someone's Spotify Wrapped or in the 'Your Top songs...' playlist if it doesn't show up in these playlists?

Thanks for joining the thread!

Generally speaking, Spotify creates personalized playlists, based on your listening history (similar bands or music and what other artist's fans like), interface behavior (songs that you skip or repeat and what you listen to from an artist's page) and also artists that you follow.

The 'On Repeat' playlist updates every 5 days and it's particularly based on songs that you currently love, based on favorites and how many times you've played them. It's worth pointing out, however, that it doesn't necessarily reflect the music you've been listening to for the past week, but could cover a wider period of time. With this said, Spotify might just need some more time.

We can't say exactly how/with what content an 'On Repeat' playlist would be generated/filled with every time and when exactly to expect a certain track to appear in it, because it's built by the variety of actions mentioned above.

The thing is, the more you listen to a certain track or artist, interact with them, like them and include them in your personal playlists, the more you show Spotify your interest in them and help the algorithm.

When it comes to your question if a song can show up in 'Spotify Wrapped' or in 'Your Top songs', these 2 playlists are independent and are not related to the 'On Repeat' playlist.

My Question or Issue

Hi! So, I've been listening to one song for multiple hours since Maret, but the song doesn't appear neither in On Repeat nor Sound Capsule. One thing that makes it really weird is when I was listening to any other song just for one time, the song did appear in Sound Capsule, but not for the song I've literally been playing on repeat. Does anyone know how to fix this? Also, the system recorded that I've been listening for like more than a hundred minutes, but the song that on the list of Sound Capsule are only listened under 10 times, it's weird, really weird.

The song is Merry Christmas, Please Don't Call by Bleachers. The song does not appear even if I play it more than 5 hours.

"Top tracks this month" (and "On repeat") is tracking only the music that I play from the search bar

I've been noticing for a while now that my "top tracks this month" has been inaccurate. It seems to ignore everything I play regularly from my playlists (maybe an important note: all my playlists are private) and only track songs that I've searched up. This causes my top tracks to be songs that I've played at most two or three times instead of my favorite tracks. I've verified my suspicions with 3rd party trackers (last.fm), and the top 10 songs in the last 30 days there seem way more accurate.

I got a notification that this question was answered and it hasn’t been. Also looks like someone above me ALSO specifically has issues with Merry Christmas by Bleachers so I feel like it must be song specific.

Alguien esta teniendo problemas con la actualizacion de En repetición es una de mis playlist favoritas sin embargo veo que hay varios errores de en la ejecucion por ejemplo la mia no se actualiza como deberia antes se actualizaba Domingo miercoles cada 3 días, a la fecha no se ha actualizado ademas aveces aparecen canciones que en lapso de tiempo de los 3 días no les he dado play por otro lado si esta el mismo artista escuchado con varias canciones digamos hay 3 canciones que uno escucha insesantemente no aparecen en orden #1, #2y #3, aparecen con 3 canciones en medio si solo si el artista principal esta no se si me haga explicar pero si alguien sabe como actualizar agradezco

This is happening for me, with the song "Just Hold On" by Jordin Post - frequent listens on repeat, not appearing in my On Repeat playlist.
