My Question or Issue

Recently, when sharing a song as an Instagram story, a snippet of the song is automatically added to the story and played on viewing. It is not possible for me to mute it.

I would like to be able to mute the song, as I don’t like to have it represented with a short, meaningless snippet that I did not even select in awful sound quality.

Currently, it's not possible to mute the song when sharing on Instagram. At Spotify, we’re always testing possible improvements and new features, so you might see something on the app that other users don't, or get a brand-new feature for only a temporary period.

give us the option to play the sound or muted , sometimes the snippet is just awful so please give us the option to mute

Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the Spotify Community!

Unfortunately, there’s no way to turn the sound off when Spotify lets you share artwork with a song preview on Instagram.

However, you can support a similar idea by adding your vote and clicking Subscribe in the three-dots menu at the top right corner. That way, you'll stay updated on any relevant updates!

Seriously, you guys at Spotify know what we want. Don’t reply with the same bs of “Oh unfortunately there’s no way to mute the audio right now.” Don’t even bother. You know people want the option to mute it so don’t try to gaslight us by saying you are “open to ideas”

Please please PLEASE let us mute the song in the story — it is SO dumb to have a random (bad) snippet of the song playing, and people (I am people) *hate* sudden random music popping up in Stories. So this terrible decision is just killing traffic to Spotify… I’m not sure why you guys still seem so wedded to this terrible change.

I hate not being able to share music on my story anymore, the snippets are always the worst part of the song and so random. I don't think that it's so hard to renew the feature so that we can select the part, or mute it. Who even thought about this and requested an update? I think you should fire them. Thank you

I signed up for Spotify community just to add on to this complaint chain. Add the option to mute, remove, or change the clipped section of the song. Seems like it would be a no brainer rather than keep people from sharing because you choose the worst part of a song to mandatorily add.

Horrible update that will guarantee I never share another song on my Instagram again from Spotify. Keep in mind, I did it often prior to this change. The fact that we can't even mute or at the minimum select the part of the song that is playing is insane. No one asked for this or wanted this.

Hi just adding to the above. Joined Spotify community to just complain about this! Haven't shared a single song on Instagram because of this feature. Neither have my friends. It's really a baffling choice to push this out and then give no updates to a vehement opposition to the update for over 6 months!!!

This should be a simple change or rollback to how it was previously! Please listen to your community and push this

Im just here to say that I hope you analyse the data on how much less people share music from spotify on their stories since this update and come to a correct conclusion
