Feature request: Tempo matching switch in Mix mode.

My Question or Issue:

The mix feature is really nice but the automatic tempo adjustment sounds bad. When Spotify starts to adjust the tempo of the songs and glitches occur. This is obvious when mixing two slower songs, like on an ambient playlist, and ruins an otherwise great feature.

Please add a tempo matching checkbox that we can switch it all off, or add an option to override the BPM (setting all songs to the same BPM should switch off the tempo adjustments made by Spotify I'm thinking).

The tempo matching right now forces all your songs to be in a similar tempo per playlist, unless you're ok with Spotify ramping up your song from 100 BPM to 120 BPM over a few seconds or the mention audio artifacts. Neither is acceptable.

These audio artifacts were not there just a week ago either afaik.

I just checked two songs (two slower songs, with gentle pads) that Spotify claimed both were 65 BPM, but the audio artifacts (sounds like glitching, as if the volume is going up and down really fast over micro seconds) were still there.

I guess I was wrong about the problems likely going away if we can manually set all songs in a playlist to the same BPM.

Very strange.

This is a suggestion for a bug fix disguised as a feature request.

The tempo matching is buggy and switching it off is the fix. 🙂 I see 'ongoing issues' but nowhere where I can report bugs? I also don't see this reported under 'ongoing issues', but I once again listen to my mix playlist and for slow songs without a set BPM or beat, it sounds horrific. It's definitely in Spotify's best interest to fix.

The Community is here for you for both issues and gathering suggestions. However, it's important to keep these separate and make it clear what we're going for. So for any suggestions of features that aren't available that you'd like to see implemented, you're welcome to drop those in the Ideas board. Just make sure to search around the Live Ideas and check if these haven't been suggested before.

As for reporting issues you need assistance with, then the Help section right here is for that and we're for you! To clairfy, the Ongoing Issues board relates to issues affecting many users and the service at large and are being currently investigated on our end.

And for the specific issue that you shared here with the audio artefacts when using the Mix, we thank you for letting us know! We've noted your feedback internally. Be advised however that we cannot say for certain at the moment when or if this is going to get addressed. We recommend keeping your apps up to date to take advantage of the latest fixes and features.
