Spotify 1:1.2.86.502.g8cd7fb22

Since Spotify version 1:1.2.86.502.g8cd7fb22 (updated to it just a couple of minutes ago) I get this error, if I would like to play something: "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it."

If I start spotify on a terminal I get the following error:

[W][05:25:49.253452] pw.conf | [ conf.c: 1182 try_load_conf()] can't load config client.conf: No such file or directory [E][05:25:49.254062] pw.conf | [ conf.c: 1215 pw_conf_load_conf_for_context()] can't load config client.conf: No such file or directory

If this error is related to pipewire, I don't use it and still use PulseAudio on purpose. Downgrading to 1:1.2.84.476.ga1ff6607 helped. Everything is working again and there isn't an error, if I start spotify on a terminal.

same issue with 1.2.86 (502.g8cd7fb22) update on gentoo and pulseaudio.

downgrading to 1.2.84 worked though. thank you

Just received the new version[1] in stable. As pointed out in the previous post, this is the only workaround:

spotify --audio-api=pulseaudio

It's a real shame, but the argument (and probably a few others) isn't documented:

$ spotify --help

Usage: Spotify <options>

Options which take arguments must be given in the form --option=argument. Supported options include:

--cache-path=<path>

Use as root for the cache directory.

--debug-level=OFF|MAX|<value>

Override default debug log level by specifying a value in the range 0-8 (default: 8). Use in combination with --show-console or --log-file.

--help

Show publicly available flags.

--log-file=<path>

Save log output to file (extension needs to be '.log').

--minimized

Start the app with the window minimized. Only works on Windows.

--mu=<value>

Start with a special cache directory. Allows you to run multiple clients at the same time. Value can be anything (will be used as part of the cache name).

--password=<password>

Use to automatically sign in on startup. Use together with `--username`.

--show-console

Show more log output.

--trace-file=<path>

Save a trace file to this path.

--uri=<uri>

Start the client normally, but automatically navigate to the URI when initialized.

--username=<username>

Use to automatically sign in on startup. Use together with `--password`.

--version

Output the version of the app.

i have the same problem BUT my system was ever on Pipewire.
and only a Few Songs have the problem the most play's fine.

I hope the problem will soon fixed.

Launching it like this worked for me:

spotify --audio-api=pulseaudio
