Can't install public key

When I try to install the public key through terminal I get this error:

root@pc00229:/home/jdrury# apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 94558F59

Any help is appreciated.

Select this text:

Run this in terminal:

sudo apt-key add -

Paste the text (middle-click or use copy/paste)

Press ^D

The instructions here still say to use keyserver.ubuntu.com and it still doesn't work.

THE SOLOTUIN IS BELOW

It will time out and fail to import the key, subsequently causing your apt-get operations to fail. A quick update to the command cures it. You *have* to specify hkp:// and :80

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys 94558F59

Success! You can also apply the same changes to your default keyservers in ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf

Confirmed that hēnk's method works. For those of us behind a firewall, adding hkp and the port number does not necessarily resolve the situation.

Partially correct fix. (depending on distribution, I'm on Deepin) Please thoroughly check your terminal output.

gpg: keyserver receive failed: No dirmngr

In your terminal, do:

sudo apt install -y dirmngr

Let dirmngr and it's dependencies install and then re-run the key import:

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys 94558F59

and you will be pleasently suprised to receive:

Executing: /tmp/apt-key-gpghome.34fAdBDa7O/gpg.1.sh --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys 94558F59
gpg: key 082CCEDF94558F59: public key "Spotify Public Repository Signing Key <operations@spotify.com>" imported
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: imported: 1
