Clearing Play Queue

I'm sure this topic has been covered dozens of times by now but it seems like there's new behavior now. It was annoying as hell that you couldn't remove songs from the queue if you hadn't technically "queued" them to begin with. Now, even when you finish listening to an album or any selection you play without queueing, it re-lists all the tracks from the album back in the queue! What the hell is going on? This basically means I can never empty my queue the way it is right now. Am I missing something here?

Hello!

The only way i have found to delete from the queue is to press the delete key on your keyboard when you highlight (click once on) the song. Here is an idea on this topic!

Make a playlist but leave it empty, then select "Choose as Current Playlist" in the right click menu (on the playlist name in your sidebar) - ignore any errors you get.

Does that clear your play queue?

You will also find starting playback from another playlist, artist page or album will clear the play queue and add the new tracks.

Same issue here: Spotify 0.9.4.183.g644e24e0 / Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (32 bit), Linux kernel 3.2.0-56-generic-pae

Playing from an empty list doesn't solve the problem.

Yep. When I choose 'Play' from an empty list, nothing happens. The tracks in the queue are still there and keep re-appearing after they finished playing.

That sucks. It works for me but I don't think a weird work-around like this is what I want to deal with on a regular basis. I don't get why Spotify is opposed to adding what seems to be an easy "feature" to implement.

I don't understand why having stuff in the play queue matters. Does it affect the functionality in some way I haven't come accross? Could someone please enlighten me?

Strange that it doesn 't work, the empty playlist trick works perfect for me. Don 't forget to use the "choose as current playlist" option. That 's the only way it works as it should be.

Ah, I missed that "current playlist" bit. Probably need a new pair of spectacles... 8-) It works!

The mentioned workarounds do not work anymore (v 0.9.7.16), selecting "Choose as current playlist" on an empty playlist displays a warning that tracks are not found, there are no changes to the queue.

It is simply ridiculous that this issue has not yet been fixed. It probably would take only a button and few lines of code to do it.

Does anyone has any other ideas on how to clear the queue?

Strange that work around still appears to work for me (ignoring the error). It won't get rid of any manually queued tracks though.

I was able to clear it, with a dirty workaround.

I started playing the first track in the queue, then quickly skipped all tracks.

That doesn't work for me. The gray songs listed in the queue cannot be removed in any way, unless you select another never-ending playlist to take its spot.

I'm on a premium trial.

They TOTALLY need to fix this or I'll be quitting.

I do see that one seems to be able to avoid this by NOT just blithely hitting a PLAY button, but, instead, rt-clicking and selecting queue.

This queue system is a bit of a kluster fudge, I must say. Google Music's playe queue is far more flexible and sophisticated. (I've been using them since Beats destroyed MOG. Ultimately, I'll select one. That said, while many things at G are better, their all-320 kbps streams just do not sound as good to my [pretty well-trained] ear as MOGs or Spot's. The mere fact that there's a noticeable difference was kind of mind blowing and I did not fully trust my perception until I'd tested it to 90% reliability in ABX testing. G needs to step up their audio quality game somehow. Don't know what's going on there.)

also if you want to delete songs you manually queued, ctrl a delete will delete the manually qeued songs
