x button does not close spotify (Mac)

Spotify will not close when hitting the close button and instead minimizes.

It is not much of an extra step to simply right click and quit the app, but it's a step I really shouldn't have to be taking. There is already a minimize button and there is literally no point in having the close button, which is a feature that's entire purpose to close an application, do the exact same thing. I have had similar problems with Skype but unlike Skype, Spotify does not appear to have an option to remove this feature.... I have done some searching online, but have yet to find a work around for macs. Has anyone else dealt with this issue/found any kind of solution that I might be able to try?

Hi @LynnIsle!

Welcome to the Community.

The closing of applications in MacOS is a little different than other operating systems, like Windows. Most applications after pressing the red 'X' keeps the application running - but in the background, this makes it quicker to come back to.

In order to fully quit an application on MacOS you will need to, like you mentioned either secondary click on the application on the doc and press Quit, or when you're in the application to select the name of it next to the Apple logo and click quit (or pressing CMD+Q when in the application).

But I do know like you said this is a feature that's available within Skype, I recommend you take a look at the Ideas section within the Community where you can look for a idea for this, or create your own.
