Liked songs not syncing from iPhone to MacBook

My Question or Issue

When I like a song it always shows up on my liked songs on my phone, but my liked songs list on my MacBook is constantly about 40 songs shorter, and I have nearly 2 and a half thousand so can't tell which ones it is missing. I have tried logging out everywhere and logging back in but it just doesn't sync. What else can I try?

Hi there!

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.

I've had the same issue as you, the only solution for me until it was fixed (probably a server side issue with my account) was to have both apps running and doing the modifications on Liked Songs so they would sync on both and have the same order. Sometimes they would sync and the order would be completely different between the 2 especially if I changed the order again after I first liked a song.

I'd also suggest updating to iOS 14.4 🙂

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

This didn't work sadly 😞

I'm on MacOS Big Sur 11.1 and just updated to iOS 14.4

I have Spotify version 8.5.96 on my phone and i think v1.1.51.382.g8e3b11ed on my laptop if that's right? that seemed to be the only version code i could find.

Thanks for the info.

Can you let us know if you've performed a clean reinstall of the apps, like @Loxer has suggested. This will clear all app data and cache, which can sometimes cause issues like this.

Let us know how you get on with this.

I reinstalled both the app on my phone and on my laptop, still no change.

Hey @suziebach,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Another thing you can try is adding some of your liked songs to another playlist or a few of them. Then you can delete multiple of them from the Liked songs by batch selecting them and right-clicking and choosing- Remove from Liked songs.

Also can you let us know if you can see new songs added to your Liked songs instantaneously across devices?

Hi!!

So I tried command+A on my liked songs on my MacBook and added them to a new playlist and it had the exact same number of songs as the liked songs on my phone, so clearly it was just a glitch in the number of liked songs shown on the MacBook. thank you for your help 🙂
