Can't click shuffle or loop

My Question or Issue

For some reason, the shuffle and loop buttons on the desktop app are greyed out, and I cannot click them. Additionally, the play button at the top of a playlist no longer has the shuffle-play icon. I've tried updating the app as well as restarting it but neither solved the issue.

Hi @phade!

Looks like you have Autoplay toggled on. When your music ends, Spotify will automatically generate a Radio station based on what you were previously listening to. While the Radio station is active, the Shuffle and Repeat buttons are disabled as it's supposed to simulate a radio station similar to that in a car.

Playing something else, for example, an album or a playlist, will disband the Spotify Radio and make the Shuffle and Repeat buttons available again.

As for the big green Play button, it has always served as just a Play button on the desktop app. In order for it to function as a Shuffle-Play button, you have to toggle on Shuffle first.

The first thing you should try to do if Spotify shuffle isn't working is to turn it off and on again. To do this on PC or Mac: Click the Shuffle button to disable the feature and click it again to reenable it.
