Horrible lag issue with new update

Hi all,

today Spotify has updated itself on my MacBook Pro to version 1.0.1.1060.gc75ebdfd, and I don't know why, but i'm having massive lag between songs, I mean, delays about 5 or 10 seconds long.

Any fix on this? It's REALLY annoying.

I'm a premium user, by the way.

Is gapless playback on? Haved you tried 'crossfading' feature? Try it at 5secs maybe it solved your issue,

Gapless playback is ON and Crossfading OFF.

This is really awkward. I tried to reinstall Spotify and the installer installed the 0,9 version. From then on, the problem was gone.... until I had to restart the system and appeared the new update again, with the same f********* problem.

What do I think of this? It's absolutely irresponsible and unacceptable from Spotify to launch such an awful update without the proper testings.

For people who are willing to give Spotify another chance (the last one) you can downgrade to a earlier version by following the steps below:

NOTE: The original link with the instructions, Thank you BigKev57 for it.

Step 0. Uninstall Spotify v1.0.and make sure it is deleted from your system.

Then download an old version from filehorse.com Version 0.9.15.27 works fine.
I'm not allowed to paste the link here...you can search for it.

Next go to this directory (it may be hidden in Windows Explorer, so if you can't see it, type %appdata% into the directory box and press Enter.

Go to C:/Users/<put in your user name>/Appdata/Roaming/Spotify

0. If there are existing Spotify_new.* files here and they are not the zero length files you created before, delete them.

1. Make a new empy text file (right click, New | Text Document works fine)
2. Name it Spotify_new.exe
3. Right click the file and make the file read only

1. Make a new empty text file
2. Name it Spotify_new.exe.sig
3. Right click the file and make the file read only

Spotify will not be able to update because it can't delete the files, because they are read only, all future upgrades will fail.

This method is easy to use and permanent.

This is fantastic! Thanks for the idea. As I'm using a Mac, I had to make the same workaround, but with different files and in a different location. For the people who's in my position right now, check this out:
