Cannot like / remove like for local files

My Question or Issue

Look at the screenshots:

1. Not all music in "Liked Songs" playlist has a heart icon.

2. If I right click on those files, there is no option to remove like. If I select multiple files, there is an option to remove like, but clicking on it will result in "oops, something went wrong".

To repro (add those local files to liked songs)

1. Have a PC and an Android device.
2. Make both PC and Android device to include the same local music.

3. Using Android app, import local songs. Those songs will show up in "liked songs" playlist.

4. With Desktop app, those songs will show up in the state described above.

Does Spotify PC have not implemented the feature to like / remove like for local files?

tl;dr solution:

Just use mobile to add/remove likes. It will sync to the PC and work properly (even though it might visually missing the heart icon).

Hi @cyclost,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for posting.

At the moment, it's not possible to Like/Dislike your Local Files directly from the desktop app, this can be done only from the mobile app. This is why you're experiencing the behavior shown on the screenshots.

So in this case, we suggest you head to the mobile app to remove those songs from your Likes.

In the meantime we also suggest you check out this Idea which requests the possibility to Like your Local Files from the desktop app. You can support it by adding your +VOTE and clicking on Subscribe in the three-dots menu in the top right corner next to the title. That'll make sure you stay up-to-date with any relevant updates about this.

To remove local files from Liked songs playlist on desktop, select the song and press DEL on your keyboard.
