Spotify and Kodi don't play nice together

I am new to Spotify and I'm trying to get it set-up so that I can listen across various devices.

I thought that, both being mature platforms, Spotify integration on Kodi would be available. It was, now it isn't and the remaining plug-in you can get cannot play the audio. I abandoned that idea.

So I thought I would install the Spotify app on the PC but every time Kodi runs Spotify's playback crashes and Spotify cannot play audio.

I can't run it through the web-browser as I have different audio outputs and I want to send Spotify through HDMI and the rest of the PC sound through the speakers. I've achieved this through Windows (advanced sound options) but this re-direction is not supported for the Chrome browser.

Any ideas?

If you want a great way to route audio, you could use Voicemeeter.
