Spotify Connect doesn't work on PC when VPN connected. Works in browser.

The Spotify application cannot connect to any devices (i.e. Google chromecast) when my VPN is up on my Windows 10 laptop. When I disconnect the VPN, I can connect to local devices.

I assume the app may be routing Spotify Connect traffic over the VPN instead of the local network.

This does not happen with open.spotify.com in a browser, Connect works as expected with the VPN up.

Thanks for posting in the Community.

We can't guarantee a steady behavior of the app's features, if you\re using a VPN. We also don't have an explanation for what is going on on your end while the VPN is active. All we can say is that for a steady performance, you'll have to turn off the VPN.

Hi Dian, thanks for the response. "Don't use a VPN" doesn't work for me. My expectation is that LAN traffic should continue to work in the desktop app with the VPN up. I'll see if I can gather some diagnostics to prove the routing issue.

I have found that starting a playlist then opening the VPN does not interrupt the playlist, it continues playing but the desktop app doesn't update. Once the VPN is closed the desktop app 'catches up' and shows it's connected and playing. This will do for me.
