Spotify Web Player keeps playing silent ads, then gets stuck on ads.

I will be listening to a song as normal and then when an ad plays, the ad will be silent, and the 30 full seconds will play, but at the end, it doesn't switch to another ad. It just freezes, and neither another ad , nor music, will play next. Refreshing the browser fixes it temporarily, but it happens again whenever the next ad plays. I've turned on and off my VPN, I've cleared my cache/cookies, this is a very new thing and I'm confused.

Thanks for reaching out. A VPN can cause a multitude of issues with Spotify, so we generally recommend against it. Besides that though, does this issue occur on all browsers or just one? If it's just one, which is it and what version thereof are you using? If you haven't tested, please try on different browsers and on different devices if the same issue happens. Also send us some screenshots or a video of the behaviour. With this info, we'd be happy to take a look.

Happens to me to on Safari, macOS app and iPhone.

Ooh! (After about ten minutes or so) it's going again! Is it because I left the page in Safari I wonder?

OS: MacOS 12.4

Exact Spotify app version: Browser app on Safari

Audio ad

Name of the ad: tiklain. Seems to be an ad about bread or something like that. Can't tell you more because the link doesn't actually lead anywhere for me

Time heard: 13:39, 14th of July

Reason for complaint: Ad was silent and Spotify stopped playing music after the ad stopped

Also, this is like the 5th time I'm trying to post this comment now and there's a different error message every time. I don't know if there's a better way to submit when errors are happening but if y'all are relying on these comments to tell you when things are going wrong then I'm 100% confident you're missing out on a lot of information

System: PlayStation 5 Spotify app.

Ad: unknown, generic black screen with a tag symbol on it.

Time: 8:25 pm, July 30 2023

Region: Oregon, USA.

Issue: Spotify was not advancing to next song, managed to force skip. When time for an ad, no ad played and Spotify will not move past to another song.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I use the Spotify app for Windows, as well as the apps for iPhone and iPad. I use all of these to connect my SONOS system to Spotify, and the issue occurs whichever I am using. Most of the time, an ad causes the system to go quiet, though you can see the playback continuing on the progress bar, and music will not recommence after the ad. NOTE, this occurs about 90% of the time - the other 10% works properly.

Pressing PAUSE and then PLAY during the silent ad rectifies the issue and starts playing the ad from the beginning.

Sounds like some of you might have an ad blocker on that browser that is interrupting the ad and not letting the player advance.
