mixes not working

when is play a mix and the first song ends it doesn't go onto the next song in the mix. instead, it just goes onto a random song

By mixes - are you referring to the Spotify mixes or to your playlists? Also, are you maybe using the free tier of the app?
If this is case, the described behaviour would be expected, as play on demand without shuffle is a Premium-only function.

Even if you're on free though, there are some Pick and Play Playlists for you to choose from!
Pick and Play playlists allow fans to pick and play any track, whenever they want, just like Spotify Premium.

These playlists can be found under Home > Made For You/Recommended For You 🙂

Folks on Spotify free have access to 15 Pick and Play playlists.
They include some of the most popular curated playlists on Spotify, such RapCaviar, as well as personalized playlists like the Daily Mix.
