App doing something to eq without being asked

I've been having issues with bass boom/rumbling for at least a week.
If I turn the app volume to near zero and crank up the master, there is a horrible boom/rumble.
If I turn the app volume to full and turn the master down low, the treble dominates.
EQ is off, volume levelling is off, YouTube is fine, Amazon Music is fine. Let's leave mastering to the music production engineers, shall we? I'll be using other platforms until this fixed.

Is this on all devices or only on specific one(s)?
When did this start happening?
The exact makes, models and OS/Firmware versions of all your affected devices
The exact Spotify Versions you use.
Screenshots or a video of the behaviour
