Slow playback speed on Windows 11

My Question or Issue

Songs are playing noticeably slower. Tempo is off and sounds like the playback speed is just slightly off. Issue started today. PC is connected via WiFi and internet speed has not changed.

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

This is very odd behavior indeed. Just to confirm, have you tried reinstalling the app on the affected device? If you haven't, we'd suggest you give it a try. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. You can see the steps for a clean reinstall here.

If the above doesn't do the trick, would you mind checking if the same happens when opening the web player and playing something from there? It'd be awesome if you could check.

Just to confirm, do you notice if this is happening from another computer? If not sure, it'd be awesome if you could check. You can ask the computer of a relative or a friend to open your account and check.

Lastly, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

I have this same issue with the official Spotify application on Windows 10. It started a few weeks ago for me. Performed a clean-reinstall and no change. It also happens on the web-based player.

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

First up, we'd recommend giving a different internet connection a go to see if the same happens. You can try creating a hotspot on your phone and trying with that.

If the issue is happening regardless the network, would you mind sending us a short screen recording of this behavior so we can take a closer look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

Lastly, sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device would come in handy.

We'll be waiting for your reply.
