Hey @GeobMcFly,

Thanks for reaching out.

This might be caused by another app you have installed. If you use any audio enhancing apps, I'd recommend disabling them temporarily or making sure Spotify is excluded.

It's also worth performing a clean reinstall of Spotify to se if that help. You can also try installing Spotify from a different source: if you downloaded the app from our website, try the version from the Microsoft Store instead, and vice versa.

Cheers 🤘

Plan

Premium

Country

France

Device

PC

Operating System

Windows 11

My Question or Issue

On each start of Spotify, it keeps routing on the motherboard sound card which is *not* the default one. I have to switch the default to motherboard (which has no output attached) and back to the DAC to make it works, *every startup or after playing on the bedroom speaker*.

I tried to force the output of Spotify in Windows’ settings but it is worse: the trick above doesn’t even work. I also tried to disable the motherboard’s Realtek, and Spotify says it “can’t play at the moment”.

Thanks for trying @GeobMcFly.

That's odd, Spotify shouldn't be able to take over and change the default audio output device. Do you start the app from a shortcut? If so, try launching it from its installation folder instead to see if that makes a difference. You'll find more info on how to locate it in this thread.

Something else that might help here is updating your sound drivers.

In any case, a short screen recording which captures the described behavior in action would be greatly appreciated.

Keep us posted on this.

Installing the Topping DAC drivers seems to solved it! As it was said that it was only needed for ASIO and as I don’t use that, I didn’t installed their drivers.
