Welcome to the Spotify Community @ythgf!

Could you try disabling Show desktop overlay when using media keys to see if that does the trick? You'll find the option under Display in the app's settings.

Something else that's worth trying is installing Spotify from a different source: if you downloaded the app from our website, try the version from the Microsoft Store instead, and vice versa.

Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes 🤘

Example: I set windows volume to 20. I then click on Spotify app and the volume set in windows goes down to 10. Clicking away from Spotify, the volume goes back up to 20. It does this with and without music playing. NOT volume normalization - affects audio volume computer-wide.

Hi there,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for reaching out!

That's odd. Does it happen over Spotify Connect? Could you share a short screen recording which captures the app's behavior in action so we can have a direct look at this?

If you haven't already, try performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps here. It's also worth restarting your PC in Safe Mode with Networking to see if the issue would occur there as well. If it doesn't, then perhaps this is caused by another program you have installed.

Keep us posted on this. Cheers!
