My Question or Issue

Volume issues began 10/12/24. My volume becomes much louder when I plug my earphones in while music is playing. Have to adjust the volume slider to get it back to normal. I unplug my earphones to move around my room rather than taking them off, it makes it very inconvenient to have to adjust the volume every time I plug my headphones in to prevent hearing damage.

Just to confirm, is this happening on all your devices when you plug your headphones or only on a specific one? We'd also like to know if the same happens with a different pair of headphones as well.

If this only happens on a specific device, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

Also, we'd recommend checking if the OS of your devices is up to date.

The problem only occurs on my PC across all headphones. My phone and laptop does not have this issue. I tried a clean reinstall but the issue persists. My Windows is up to date on my PC but not my laptop.

Like the other user said, it seems to be linked to changing output devices. When I unplug my headphones, the output device is changed back to default. When I plug my headphones back in, it changes from default back to my headphones.

Hello! I am having the same issue. The issue is whenever I disconnect my headphones or reconnect my headphones, dpotify automatically puts the volume to max, but it doesn't adjust the bar. So when I move the bar down or up a tiny bit, the volume goes back to the volume that the bar is showing. I am currently on Windows 11 using Spotify.

I am having the same issues. Whenever I change the audio output device the volume rises. It can only be fixed when changing the volume in the spotify app for windows. A tiny bit is already enough. It doesn't matter if I switch to my headphones, or my speakers.

Custom build desktop PC (AMD Ryzen 9 7950x 16-core CPU, ASUS B650E chipset MB, 32GB RAM)

Same (similar?) issue here. Started happening in the last week. Unsure of which exact update since I don't restart Spotify that often. In my case, (dis)connecting bluetooth headphones results in the new output device going to full volume. Clicking the volume bar in Spotify resets to the correct volume. Only happens with Spotify, and regardless of which device.

I am actually having a similar issue but the opposite effect, when using my headphones and opening Spotify to play music it’s a normal detectable volume but as soon as I touch the volume slider on Spotify even if I don’t move the slider the sound becomes almost undetectably quiet even when the volume position shows it’s the same. This started randomly about a month ago.
