Hi, I am experiencing an issue as well. I am running Windows 11 on a Dell desktop. Spotify works on my mobile devices and through my web browser. The desktop app gives the "Spotify can't play this right now..." error message whenever I click on a song. I have updated all drivers, there are no pending Windows updates, I have logged out and back in to my account, deleted the app, rebooted device, and re downloaded it, cleared caches, changed Sound settings to default. All have not resolved issue. Audio works fine for web browsers, even opened my iTunes desktop app which I never use anymore and that works fine. Any guidance would be appreciated...

Plan

Premium

Country

US

Device

Windows 11 PRO desktop

Operating System

Windiws 11 PRO

My Question or Issue

I have the PC set to play through a T+A DAC 200. Before the Windows update, the sound setting for this device was set to 32bit, 352000Hz and Spotify had no issues playing through the DAC. But after the update, Spotify refuses to play this device, unless I set it to 32bit, 192000 Hz. Without this change it displays the “Spotify cannot play this song” message.

Will you be releasing an update to resolve this issue and make it work like before?

Thanks!

Hey there @milpai,

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

Would you mind checking if the firmware of your device or the OS of your PC have any pending updates? It's also worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

However, if the aforementioned steps don't do the trick, let us know and we'll make sure to pass it onto the right team, as we always strive to improve your experience.

Keep in mind that we can't confirm when or if this will be fixed. That being said, we'd recommend keeping the app and the device's firmware up to date so you don't miss out on any possible fixes or improvements.

If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.

Hello,

I did a clean install of Spotify. My firmware on the T+A DAC200 has not changed and is latest. There are no updates in Windows as well. It is just that the Windows update from This past Tuesday caused some changes internally to Windows and hence I am facing an issue.

The only way to resolve this is to go into sound settings and set the properties to 32-Bit, 192000Hz. Anything above that and Spotify cannot play.

Thanks!

Hello,

Check if there is another device that is using your audio driver in EXCLUSIVE mode. Normally devices set to use ASIO locks the sound driver.

Second thing is to go to sound settings and drop the bit rate to 24-bit 192000 and then see if Spotify still shows the error.
